Pride and Prejudice - universal (truth)?

Mr. Darcy: So this is your opinion of me? Thank you for explaining to fully. Perhaps these offences might have be overlooked had not your pride-
Elizabeth Bennet: My pride?
Mr. Darcy: -been hurt by my honesty in admitting scruples about our relationship. Did you expect me to rejoice in the inferiority of your circumstances?
Elizabeth Bennet: And those are the words of a gentleman. From the first moment I met you, your arrogance and conceit, your selfish disdain for the feelings of others made me realize that you were the last man in the world I could ever be prevailed upon to marry.
Mr. Darcy: Forgive me.

(Frankly, handsome Mr Darcy and gorgeous Elizabeth Bennett -- would certainly attract the eyes of the audience. I wasn't very convinced by Keira Knightly for her portrayal of Lizzie, but two others really drew me into their characters -- Matthew Macfadyen and Judi Dench. Matthew's dull look - haha! - matches so much of the apparently COOL Mr Darcy and I wouldn't deny his talents in acting making very good use of his LOOKS - 'EYES' I mean. Judi Dench as the arrogant and extravagant - or somewhat overbearing - Lady Catherine de Bourg, what can I say? She's the QUEEN of acting! Right, if you're a big fan of Jane Austen, and especially her all-time favourite Pride & Prejudice, go for the 300-min production with Colin Firth as Mr Darcy instead! Excuse me, Director Wright! :D)

Reminiscing Brokeback Mountain

I remember...
when Jack takes Ennis' arm around him in the tent;
when Ennis sits for long and doesn't want to leave Brokeback;

when Jack and Ennis punches at each other... so hard;

when Ennis hides himself, cries chokingly for separating with Jack;

when Ennis occupies himself so much with the urge to reunite with Jack;

when Jack bursts into tears in his car;
I remember...

the last conversation between Jack and Ennis on Brokeback;
the scenes of how Jack is beaten to death;
the shirts Jack hides in his room;
those shirts that cannot come out of the closet... at the end of the movie...

Keeping Mum - a taste of British black comedy

Honestly, if you're not prepared to enter and understand the British life and (tradition/) culture, you may get as bored as those audience who were with me tonight for the film!
This is something different from the Hollywood style of comedy who makes you laugh every second but leave you nothing afterwards.
It's very BRITISH with a bloody (excuse me) annoying dog that barks all day and night, a vicar who lost touch with things around him (including 'bra'! :D) and lost his humour long ago, a nosey old lady (neighbour), a boy being bullied at school and many more issues about marriage and religion (or even to the use of the f*** word! :P).
I got so used to Rowan's Mr Bean that I almost forgot his real voice - which is in fact my favourite British accent! :D And he proves to be an excellent actor who can be a self-absorbed vicar thinking seriously about his speech for the convention, but at the same time, a warm and caring husband (who, after reciting 'Song of Soloman' that was said to be about SEX by Maggie Smith in the film, kisses gently on his wife's shoulder, representing that... 'he's back').
Maggie Smith should be the main draw in the film - absolutely wonderful in the characterisation as a nutty 'mum' who kills whoever(and whatever - Clarence the dog, remember?) stands between her daughter Gloria (Kristin Scott Thomas) and Walter (Rowan Atkinson), and even disturbs the harmony of the family. You wouldn't imagine how MURDER can be handled in such a lighthearted and funny way.
All in all, a charming and edgy piece of British black comedy (that goes with the tradition). I'd recommend it to those who want a taste of it - give it a go!

What is important in my life?

Fun is most important in your life.

Having a high focus on fun indicates that you value your own enjoyment over anything else. And there is nothing wrong with that. Your motto is we're here for a good time - not a long time.

Take this quiz

A Woman's Love

She never told her love,
But let concealment like a worm i'th'bud
Feed on her damask cheek. She pined in thought,
And with a green and yellow melancholy
She sat like Patience on a monument,
Smiling at grief. Was not this love indeed?
(We) men may say more, swear more, but indeed
(Our) shows are more than will: for still (we) prove
Much in (our) vows, but little in (our) love.

What should I major in...

Your Scholastic Strength Is Deep Thinking

You aren't afraid to delve head first into a difficult subject, with mastery as your goal.

You are talented at adapting, motivating others, managing resources, and analyzing risk.

You should major in:
Philosophy (-> meaning, I think too much!)
Music (-> once thought of, but not 'realistic'!)
Theology (-> again, think too much of things!)
Art (-> appreciating it, ok, no work pls!)
History (-> no way! I dun hv any RAM in me!)
Foreign language (-> Si, Italiano!)

Movie watch: 'PRIME'

Finally I was watching a movie at cinema, not home! And most of all, that I had the time to spare!
I always 'respect' Meryl Streep as she's indeed a brilliant actress devoted to acting, and of coz the movie industry. She's in the movie as a Jewish mother and also a therapist for Rafi (Uma Thurman). In a number of scenes, she actually acts out the fun of a mother who's always looking at her child as 'kid', and how she react so vigorously (like heart attack or something! :D) when Rafi (who didn't know her therapist is in fact her new bf's mom) talks about her son's penis - funny line here when Rafi said she appreciated 'that thing' so much she wants to knit a little hat for it! I couldn't even grasp my breath coz I laughed A LOT!!! HAHA!
Anyway, it proved to be not just a comedy or a piece of 'cheap' entertainment (when I said that, I meant... just for laughs, not for brains). Well, 'prime' as the title - referring to the time when people falls head over heels for love - as the time when passion dominates your rationality. Some truths in fact about relationship and the movie has what I would call 'depth'.
I could see and feel how realistic every scene is and it doesn't surprise me to learn that the director spent 8 years finishing the scripts.
A recommended one, not only because it's hilarious, you can actually dig truths out of the scenes. One thing I found it not perfect enough is the development of the character of Lisa (Meryl Streep) - needs a little more about her emotional change after knowing her son's gf is actually Rafi, her client.

*Looking forward to 'Brokeback Mountain'.
